Steve Moore

As a 23 year old college drop out, I believe that I have a pretty cool life. I enjoy all aspects of getting out of my comfort zone, and am an avid reader. I read between 2 and 3 non-fiction books a week, and have been for about 3 years now.

Last Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. To all who do not know, Advent is the new years eve countdown for the Christian world. It is a 4 week processsion of sundays leading up to Christmas and the Birthday of Christ (supposedly). In honor of this Holy-Day season, I wanted to give some advice to non-Profits who are trying to change the world.

Recently, I have been helping a couple of Non-Profits with funding issues. For some reason, a lot of non-profits (usually grass roots) do not have the connections or imagination to self generate operating capital in a reliable way. We solved that issues in two unique ways that can help ANY NON-PROFIT succeed in creating capital using Google for Non-Profits, Adwords Grants, and a little bit of creativity. I will be The Christian Business Men's Connection as a Case Study, with an explination, to show  you guys the way.

    Non-Profit Funding Case Studies

    The Christian Business Men's Connection

The Christian Business Men's Connection (CBMC) and I have a long standing history. As a Christian Businessman, as bumbling as I may be, I have received a lot of benifit from CBMC's different programs. They have Coaching Training, Mentorship Programs, and a lot of other help for businessmen. Now, as I was speaking with the area director for CBMC as I normally do, and the topic of funding came up. He was trying to figure out what he could do to increase donations. Now, in the middle of our conversation, he had to take a very important phone call, and I was just sitting next to him patiently waiting when an idea hit me. It was revolutionary, it was amazing, it was fantastic, and once he got off the phone, I said this...

"Dude, you run a business mens orginization, why can't you just make and market a product!?"

His respone... "No reason, we can..." At this point, an entire system entered into my head in a flash. He could make an online university. Considering that he is an orginization of businessmen (of all categories), he could solicit his donors, friends, members, etc. for content. He could go and shoot videos of the donors giving a class on a specific subject, and brand the video by the donor, and host it on our site as an online course. He could then sell the subscription to the university, and create the necessary funds. The main source of advertising will be Google for Non Profits, thus solving his cash flow needs.

Hey All, I just wanted to let you know that I have been featured in Ken Rochon's newest book, Umbrella Marketing. This book will change your life, so please, head on over to The Facebook Page and purchase it to change your business life. I wrote chapter 6, and the preview is below. Enjoy.

Ch. 6: The Social Media Gold Rush

Picture yourself back in time. The year is 1849, and everyone is talking of gold. You are a meagerly successful small business person, but you have dreams of fame and fortune. You have a great work ethic, and expertise in your field. You hear stories of riches being dug up underneath the west coast top soil. These stories fuel your thoughts on what you could do with all the extra money (easy money) that lie right in the soil. The barrier to entry is cheap by your standards, a trip to california, a couple shovels, and you are making money!

Then, your friends start making the decision to sell their belongings, pack up, and move across the country in hopes of striking it rich. They write you and tell you of the success they are having, and the adventure that awaits. It is too much, and you decide to take the plunge yourself, and make the long journey across the U.S.A.

You spend the first couple months doing research, a couple more getting your wagon ready for the move, a couple more getting the right team, and then a couple more arguing with some critics on whether you made the right decisions. After a lot of self examination, arguments, and debate, you set out for California.

You travel along the beaten path, deeply breathing the fresh air outside the big city, enjoying the sunny days of the first part of the adventure. A couple months down the line things get boring, every day you have to get up, pack up, move on, slow down, set up camp. Get up, pack up, move on, slow down, set up camp. Get up, pack up... You get the drift. After a while, the adventure is gone, and the trip becomes boring as you approach your expected destination.

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY WORLD!

Interesting that no one else calls the common birthday something more fun, like Our Xth Anniversary to Planet Earth (I guess the title would be a little long). As I sit here pondering about my short life, short business career, and short stint as a husband and father, I couldn't help but surf the web checking out birthday factoids. Wikipedia was surprisingly useless for finding useless data on the subject of birthday celebrations. Google was also really of no help. This has led me to ask the question...

Why do we have Birthday parties?

the-voice-logo-31b78You know, after watching "The Voice" for a couple months, it becomes harder to see the difference between the coaches and the contestants.

The only difference I see is commitment to following their dreams. The coaches didn't go audition for TV shows to try to find the fast track to their dreams. They didn't try for instant fame.

They worked their tails off for years before anyone even noticed them. They decided that they were going to achieve their dreams no matter how difficult it was going to be, and they just did it.

It doesnt matter what your parents tell you, and it doesn't matter what society tells you. You can do whatever YOU decide to do if YOU decide no one will deny you.

Todays post is something I hold dear to my heart. Consider this a letter to all of whom may have dreams of doing something different than what they are doing right now...

    Dear World,

I have been told by many that I am "wise beyond my years", and that I am something different from other people my age. Some have called me "an impressive young man", and I have spent today trying to understand why.

I do not believe that I am really anything special. I do not believe that I am smarter, harder working, more focused, more organized, or more talented than anyone else. I believe I am a lazy, disorganized, ADHD, clumsy buffoon that makes more mistakes than anyone I know. I find myself reading blogs, watching too many YouTube videos, and daydreaming when I should be working for me to ever believe that I am something special. I have missed more deadlines than I am proud of, so what is the deal with people paying me these complements?

As I said, I spent today in introspection on this case, and I have found that these complements are only possible because of a handful of factors.
