Advent, Adwords, and Adding Profits for Non-Profits

Last Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. To all who do not know, Advent is the new years eve countdown for the Christian world. It is a 4 week processsion of sundays leading up to Christmas and the Birthday of Christ (supposedly). In honor of this Holy-Day season, I wanted to give some advice to non-Profits who are trying to change the world.

Recently, I have been helping a couple of Non-Profits with funding issues. For some reason, a lot of non-profits (usually grass roots) do not have the connections or imagination to self generate operating capital in a reliable way. We solved that issues in two unique ways that can help ANY NON-PROFIT succeed in creating capital using Google for Non-Profits, Adwords Grants, and a little bit of creativity. The Christian Business Men's Connection (CBMC) and I have a long standing history. As a Christian Businessman, as bumbling as I may be, I have received a lot of benifit from CBMC's different programs. They have Coaching Training, Mentorship Programs, and a lot of other help for businessmen. Now, as I was speaking with the area director for CBMC as I normally do, and the topic of funding came up. He was trying to figure out what he could do to increase donations. Now, in the middle of our conversation, he had to take a very important phone call, and I was just sitting next to him patiently waiting when an idea hit me. It was revolutionary, it was amazing, it was fantastic, and once he got off the phone, I said this... 

"Dude, you run a business mens orginization, why can't you just make and market a product!?"

His respone... "No reason, we can..." At this point, an entire system entered into my head in a flash. He could make an online university. Considering that he is an orginization of businessmen (of all categories), he could solicit his donors, friends, members, etc. for content. He could go and shoot videos of the donors giving a class on a specific subject, and brand the video by the donor, and host it on our site as an online course. He could then sell the subscription to the university, and create the necessary funds. The main source of advertising will be Google for Non Profits, thus solving his cash flow needs.

 How do you take this information and crafit it to your needs? 


The answer is simple, break it down. Relying on donors for your funding is difficult and unreliable. People making a purchase based on value is a lot more reliable. Take an accounting of your informational, relational, and tangible assets and figure try to create a product or service that is marketable.
